Our Founders
The journey began with Dr. D. R. Prasad and Dr. Anandi Bai Prasad, alumni of Mysore Medical College, who founded Prasad Maternity Nursing Home in the early 1940s. Built on compassion and selfless service, it served families across Mysore and nearby districts.
After Dr. D. R. Prasad’s untimely demise in 1967, Dr. Anandi Bai Prasad continued their legacy by renaming it Prasad Memorial Medical Center (PMMC) and upgrading its facilities to meet growing healthcare needs.
In 1999, the next generation strengthened this foundation. Dr. Chitralekha M.R.( her daughter) and Dr. Mahesh Kumar ( her son-in-law), expanded the services
by establishing Chitras Hospital, bringing modern medical expertise gained in India and abroad. To cater to the needs of childless couples in and around Mysore, they
Established the first state- of- the- art IVF unit of Mysore in 2007. Following extensive renovations, both facilities were unified in 2023 under
One name Chitras Hospital a single, integrated healthcare center dedicated to excellence, innovation, and compassionate patient care.
